Deep Water Cay was founded in 1958 by two fishing legends: Floridian Gil Drake Sr. and Field & Stream editor A.J. McClane. Their love for bonefishing led them to these now legendary flats off the East End of Grand Bahama, where they established Deep Water Cay—a 2.2-mile slice of paradise. Soon after, Gil and A.J. were joined by fishing legends as well as some of the top guides in the Bahamas, and the catches made over the years and generations that followed have become legendary. While Deep Water Cay has gone through much iteration in its storied history, the bonefishing and lure of this incredible place hasn’t changed one bit.
