Bonefishing and Flats Fishing

Deep Water Cay Club is surrounded by over 300 square miles of the most productive bonefish flats in the Bahamas. The myriad of creeks, inland bays, and ocean flats provide anglers with a variety of fishing possibilities and the multitude of protected flats makes for easy casting on breezy days.

Deep Water Cay Club’s seasoned guide staff has been said to be the very best in the Caribbean. Whether fly fishing or spin casting our guides will make you feel comfortable and help you in every way to enjoy the Deep Water bonefish experience.

While much of the flats fishing is done from our Dolphin Super Skiffs there are also many flats that are perfect for the angler that prefers to wade. In fact, you will discover there is a great wading flat right in front of the Lodge!

Other fish that anglers encounter on the flats include barracuda, mutton snapper, jacks, shark and if you're one of the fortunate you may even have a chance to cast to permit. At Deep Water Cay it’s best to be prepared for the unexpected. Make certain you have a variety of flies and baits with you.

Deep Water Cay bonefish average three pounds but it's not uncommon to catch bones up to ten pounds. Seven- to nine-weight fly rods are ideal in most flats situations. A ten-weight rod can be handy when casting to permit or large cuda.
