Deep Water Cay

Scuba Diving

With over 100,000 square miles of ocean spread out across over 3300 islands and cays, the Bahamas offer outstanding scuba and snorkeling opportunities. The beauty of diving at Deep Water Cay is simple: there are outstanding options that range from 6 inches below the water’s surface to 130 feet deep.

Variety is the name of the game at Deep Water Cay. Dive walls, Blue Holes, and reefs to photograph a variety of colorful fish and wrecks. Scuba divers access a number of spots with our Dive Master aboard our 33-foot World Cats. The runs are very quick and offer outstanding diving in areas of the Northwest and Northeast Providence Channels. These channels extend offshore and are bordered by a shallow barrier reef. What makes them outstanding is the gradual and progressive descent to 750 feet deep. From those depths flows cooler water, which ensures excellent water clarity.

The climate is always moderate in this region split by the Tropic of Cancer. From December to May, air temperatures are between 60-75 degrees, with summer temperatures averaging in the low 80’s. Water temperatures feature similar patterns, with winter water temps in the 70’s and summer temps in the 80’s. Visibility ranges from 80 to 100 feet. The Trade Winds are soft from May through November, with visibility increasing to 150-200 feet. The summer diving in the Bahamas is considered among the best anywhere in the world.

Hookah Diving is now available at Deep Water Cay. After a brief orientation program that is held in our Infinity Pool, your Dive Master will escort you and your group on a boat dive. The Hookah unit is an air compressor with four hoses and regulators, basically thought of as scuba diving without a tank. Maximum depths are 90 feet.

Deep Water Cay offers a Pro Shop and an air compressor is conveniently located in the Welcome Center. Should members in your group decide to snorkel from shore they’ll find a rim of white sand beaches and easy entries. The variety is staggering even from shore. One Blue Hole is a 10-minute swim from our office.
